MiKK is delighted to announce this free-of-charge service for MiKK Mediators from all over the world: Intervision & Peer Consultation (online).
New! In addition to the European Time Zone (CET) Intervision group, MiKK is launching an Asia-Pacific Time Zone (AEST/JST/IST/CST) group.
The sessions for CET take place via Zoom on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 19:00 to 20:30 CET . For the Asia-Pacific Time Zone see below.
The sessions are open to all mediators listed with MiKK for any ongoing or completed mediations, as well as for any other mediation-related questions you may have, even if not related to a particular case. The sessions can be conducted in ENGLISH, GERMAN or in both languages (in separate groups conducted in parallel) depending on the preferences of registered participants.
In an initial consultation round, we will discuss mediation cases and then use a structured and targeted procedure to reflect on the issues raised, all the while maintaining confidentiality.
The exchange of experiences and mutual support among colleagues will enable the participants to develop a new perspective on issues, methodologies, difficulties etc., promote new ideas and insights and give fresh impetus.

Having grown up in the U.S., established herself in Berlin as a young adult and later lived and worked in Philadelphia, Brussels, Cologne and Addis Ababa, Jamie brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to her role as an international family mediator and trainer. In the background of her work in adult education, she has been active in the peace movement and peace education, initiating violence prevention and mediation projects in schools and communities, developing and carrying out professional mediation training programmes and advising others working in these fields. Her varying tasks in a training and advisory capacity in the area of development cooperation have taken her to a number of countries for short-term assignments, including Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Kosovo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Northern Ireland and Australia. She has also published widely.
As a founding member and Vice Chair of MiKK, Jamie has been mediating child abduction cases since 2004 and still thrives on the challenge of dealing with high-conflict situations. She very much enjoys the process of mutual consultation among colleagues: critically reflecting on the role of the mediator as well as the goals, pitfalls and potential of a particular case and finding a balance between professional distance and professional proximity.
Olav Sydow is a Berlin-based lawyer with more than 22 years of experience and a Mikk mediator since 2013. He grew up in Germany and has lived in Los Angeles as well. After becoming a lawyer and working in family cases he noticed first-hand the shortcomings and severity of contentious court procedures on family relationships and especially children. This led him to train and become a mediator as well. In his work as a mediator, Olav has specialized in family mediation and child abduction cases where he applies his legal skills as well as his large experience in working with family conflicts to help the parties involved to resolve their issues outside of a courtroom and lengthy legal proceedings. After years of working in this area, he is more convinced than ever that mediation is the best approach for family conflicts and child abduction cases.
Olav is the First Chair of Mikk and has been mediating child abduction cases since 2013. He is very aware of all the difficulties in family mediation especially regarding child relocation and has initiated this project so that Mikk mediators can have a forum where they can consult with their colleagues, share their experiences and get feedback, ideas and other perspectives for their cases.

MiKK mediator, systemic consultant and coach
Felicia Guarini is a mediator, MiKK mediator, systemic consultant and coach. Her work focuses on creating spaces in which people can reflect, reconnect, and find their own orientation in complex life situations.
Born and raised in Italy, she earned a degree in languages and literature with a specialisation in linguistics and moved to Germany, where she led projects in the field of professional development and business training. Her experience in multicultural and high‑conflict settings led her to train as a mediator according to the standards of the German Mediators Association in 2015, and her personal experience with “chosen” intercultural family bonds inspired her to complete the MiKK Cross‑Border Family Mediation training in 2017.
She is a member of the Cross‑Border Family Mediators network, has contributed to several MiKK projects including “MiKK Mediators in Court,” and has further training in coaching and systemic consulting. She works in Italian, German, English, and Spanish.
Christian is an experienced mediator and Japan specialist with over six years of professional experience living in Japan, including working as a translator (he is multi-lingual, with mother tongue German, fluent Japanese & English). He holds multiple recognized mediation certifications (BM, BAFM, SIMI) and is trained in cross-border family mediation as well as trainer education. Christian is also a trainer with MiKK and serves as a MiKK Ambassador for Japan. He has been a trainer for the MiKK CBFM® Training in Japan, Osaka and also in Berlin. His expertise focuses on international and intercultural conflict resolution. Alongside his mediation practice, he teaches and trains in mediation and intercultural communication at several respected universities in Japan and Germany, combining practical field experience with academic instruction.
