Cross-Border Family Mediation (CBFM®)
The MiKK 50-hour advanced CBFM training course aims to qualify practicing family mediators to mediate cross-border family disputes, including international child abduction, access and custody cases. The course will cover the relevant legal aspects of international family conflicts, differences in national family legislation, the 1980 and 1996 Hague Conventions, the Brussels IIa Regulation & the new Brussles IIb (Recast) Regulation which will enter into force in August 2022. The new Regulation will require judges to consider referring parents to mediation in all cases concerning children and in particular in international child abduction cases! Participants will be introduced to tools and methodologies for mediating high conflict cross-border family disputes with the aim of safeguarding the best interest of the child.

Verfahrensbeistand Training

Peer Consultation and Intervision
MiKK offers a free online Intervision & Peer Consultation service for all MiKK-listed mediators worldwide. The meetings take place via Zoom on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, from 19:00–20:30 CET.
These sessions provide a space to discuss ongoing or completed mediations, as well as any mediation-related questions, even if they are not connected to a specific case. Depending on participants’ preferences, the consultations are held in English, German, or in parallel groups for both languages.
Each session begins with a brief check-in, followed by a structured reflection process that allows participants to present cases, explore challenges, and gain new perspectives—always with full respect for confidentiality.
Intervision promotes peer support, exchange of experience, and professional growth, offering fresh ideas, insights, and new approaches to mediation practice.
